Personal Website

Summer 2020
Purpose

I wanted to showcase projects that I have worked on and to create a narrative for myself as I advance in my career.

Observation

Resumes are filled with over-exaggerations and unverifiable information. They are an antiquated way to get to know anyone. They are also filled with things that are more commonly known as 'resume fillers'. It is much more difficult to fake passion through documenting experiences.

Development

When designing my website, I wanted to create a framework that would demonstrate how I turned ideas into reality. Starting with the purpose and observations, to defining the heart of the idea, to development, and finally user experience and conclusion.

I also wanted to maintain the narrative that I had two different working parts of my brain that can do things separately and also come together to provide a mix of both. I used this whiteboard to sketch frameworks and narratives that I wanted to use. I ultimately landed on the two biggest ones that are seen throughout the website.

Future Development

I will continue to add and subtract from this website as I take on newer and more interesting projects. I am thinking about starting a blog as a substitute for my morning journaling. Having a platform to share with others now allows me to reach more people with ever before and collaborate on ideas. I have connected my website to Google Analytics and hope to gain insights as I get more traffic which will allow me to begin A/B testing certain features with Optimize.

Takeaways

Building this website has motivated me to start documenting my adventures more as I was often lacking photos from my favorite experiences. It has also motivated me to start building and prototyping my ideas so that I can easily share them with others.
